Mathare River FC once again demonstrated resilience and belief, fighting back to secure a vital 2–1 away victory against Kisima FC at Mahiga Primary School and maintaining a perfect record on the road this season.
The contest began with an early setback. Kisima FC struck first in the opening stages of the match, catching our defence in transition and giving the home side a boost of confidence. For much of the first half, we were forced to absorb pressure and manage the game intelligently, ensuring the deficit remained minimal heading into the break.
The second half told a very different story.
We returned to the pitch with greater urgency, sharper movement, and clear intent. That renewed energy was rewarded almost immediately when Josphat Ng’ang’a found the equaliser, finishing calmly after a well-worked attacking move that finally broke Kisima’s resistance. The goal shifted momentum decisively, and from that point onward, we dictated the tempo of the match.
Wave after wave of pressure followed, pinning Kisima FC deep in their half and forcing errors. The decisive moment arrived when sustained attacking pressure resulted in a foul inside the penalty area. Augustine Obeto, popularly known as Obonyo, stepped up and showed remarkable composure, dispatching the penalty with precision to complete the comeback.
The closing minutes required discipline and collective effort, but the team remained organised and focused, seeing out the result with maturity.
This victory reinforces a growing trend—our away form has been outstanding. Winning every league match on the road so far speaks volumes about the team’s mentality, adaptability, and unity. No matter the venue or circumstances, the identity remains consistent.
